The choir was set up in February 2010 in Walthamstow Central. It has since gone from strength to strength and has expanded to its current membership of about 60 friendly, amateur singers. We regularly put on concerts and perform in events throughout Waltham Forest and sometimes further afield.
We are a self-governing group, with a committee elected by members, and the group is open to anyone living or working in or around the London Borough of Waltham Forest.
Previous singing or musical experience is not required.
We believe that singing is a simple pleasure that should – and can – be accessible to anyone. With this in mind we are a non-auditioning group who welcomes everyone who is interested in joining us.
The choir is also a keen supporter of local charities and have sang at events for Age UK, Homeless Meals in Central London, William Morris Big Local, Haven House and through the choir's own outreach programme.
The choir raises funds through our two annual events and also our free annual Christmas Concert at St Mary's Church.
Currently the choir is supporting two local charities.
Life After Cancer,a local charity providing individual support through one-to-one coaching, group workshops and support groups to people recently finished cancer treatment or their partner's, friends or families.
PL84U who offer a number of services including free hot meals and a friendly environment to the elderly, people in need, the homeless and those who are living in conditions of social economic, cultural deprivation and isolation.
